 SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!

THE

AMAZON.COM BESTSELLER CAMPAIGN
HAS BEGUN!

What the heck is an Amazon.com bestseller campaign? Here's the deal. I need everyone to buy my book from Amazon.com on August 1, 2007 (the book's official release date).

The purpose? If everyone buys the book on August 1, it will be launched to the Amazon bestseller list.

Why is this important? Beyond being able to say, "I'm an Amazon.com bestseller," being on the list attracts a lot of attention from readers (which in turn sells more books) the media (which can generate more sales) and from larger publishers (who can make a deal on future books...and sell more books). See where this is going? Basically,  it's a good way to get noticed...and sell more books.

Is there a moral reason for taking up the cause? Absolutely! My books are published by Breakneck Books, a small indie publisher and we want to show the corporate publishing giants that the little guy can even the playing field. We're the underdog. This is Smurfette going up against Gargamel and I need a few good Smurfs to join the fight. Help defeat corporate America...at least for a few says. How's that for moral? So smurf the power and buy the book on August 1st!

In the next few weeks I'll be uploading several viral video ads that promote the campaign and a podcast preview of the first six chapters to Antarktos Rising. I'll post links to all of that, once they're available. Thanks for taking up the cause!

04/19/2007 - A new big announcement about Antarktos Rising that's the total opposite of the one below! Hurray! Confusion!. Here's the deal. Antarktos Rising will NOT be a hardcover. A debate over this has been raging for the past few weeks. While a hardcover would be fantastic, they just don't appeal to a large enough audience to justify at this point.

The book's release date is August 1st, and we'll be rolling out a "Buy the book on August 1st" campaign shortly in an effort to break into the Amazon bestseller list. But, a $25.95 hardcover stands little chance of accomplishing that. A $14.99 trade paperback has much higher odds. Which would you buy? If say, 1000 of you fans e-mail and say you'll buy the hardcover on August 1st, it would probably happen...but if you're anything like me, you wait for the paperback...so we're going to give you that first!

04/02/2007 - A big announcement today. Antarktos Rising will be a HARDCOVER release! This is a big step for the book. It will feature the same great cover but in a larger, wrap around format.

The galleys for Antarktos Rising are on the way and should arrive soon. Some of the folks receiving galley copies are authors, Steve Alten, Stel Pavlou and Scott Sigler. Along with the blurb already provided by James Rollins, that would make for an impressive list of blurbs for the back cover!

03/19/2007 - The website got a long over due face lift today...or at least it was started today. Should be live by the end of the month. While the site isn't complete, most of the sections having to do with my books are finished.

03/10/2007 - ANTARKTOS RISING has been slated for a July release. The exact date has not been decided yet. I've already begun lining up events for this book, so check the appearances page often to see where I'll be promoting it.

03/01/2007 - THE DIDYMUS CONTINGENCY has been published in Bulgaria! While I can't read a word of the book, it certainly is fun to look at. Click here to read more, and see the cover, on my blog.

Other Great Authors

I'm a huge fan of the genre I write and read books by these authors like they were my Grandma Vincent's homemade chocolate bon-bons on Christmas Eve. If you're a fan of any of these authors, you'll feel right at home within the pages of my books.

www.jamesrollins.com - My favorite author, and my biggest supporter, James Rollins, bestselling author of BLACK ORDER and THE JUDAS STRAIN can do no wrong in my book. I've been a fan since reading SUBTERRANEAN maybe seven years ago.

www.prestonchild.com - Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child are the fantastic writing duo that brought us THE RELIC, DEEP STORM and BOOK OF THE DEAD. Whether they're writing together or solo, these guys don't miss.

www.matthewreilly.com - Matthew Reilly's novels are basically action-adventure/thrillers on speed. I love his creative and his non-stop pace. His first novel, CONTEST is not only my favorite of his, but it was also originally self-published...no wonder I like him!

www.stevealten.com - Steve Alten thinks big...big creatures that is. I discovered his books about two years ago and read one after the other until I ran out, finishing with THE LOCH, which I have to admit was a major inspiration (along with his MEG series) for the novel I just finished writing.

www.crichton-official.com - Not including his two most recent book, Michael Crichton is the master of science based thrillers. JURASSIC PARK, THE LOST WORLD, TIMELINE, SPHERE and PREY all rank among my favorite novels.
