The Last Hunter – Ascent

Filed under: Novels,Updates — Tags: Antarctica, antarktos, horror, Solomon Ull Vincent, Teen Fantasy, young adult — Jeremy Robinson @ 2:28 pm

It’s no secret that THE LAST HUNTER series are my personal favorites out of all my books. They feature all the action, monsters, mythology and craziness of my other novels, but they’ve got more heart, and a main character, who is based on my son, Solomon. The story is more personal and moving while still being action packed and, at times, quite gory.

ASCENT is the third installment in the “Antarktos Saga” and I’m told it’s the best of the series thus far. Not only do we get to see what happens to Solomon after he **spoiler alert for those who haven’t read the first two books** steps into Tartarus, but ASCENT is the book that bridges the events in my novel ANTARKTOS RISING with the Antarktos Saga.

As you may know, the Antarktos Saga is based upon my previously published novel ANTARKTOS RISING, first published in 2007. THE LAST HUNTER – DESCENT takes place twenty years before ANTARKTOS RISING, and in ASCENT, the stories merge. The last two books of the Antarktos Saga finish BOTH story lines.

The book is available in e-book format right now and will be out in print in the next 1.5 weeks, just in time for Christmas!

DESCRIPTION:

The Last Hunter - Ascent

I no longer exist. My kidnapping, breaking and corruption at the hands of the half-human, half-demon Nephilim began the journey to nothingness. I had hoped to one day rejoin my loved ones in the outside world, but before I realized it, twenty years had passed. Time is a distance I cannot traverse. If there is any memory of me, it is distant. Worse, the spirit of Nephil, Lord of the Nephilim, used my connection with the continent to decimate the surface world. I’ve done horrible things in the past, but I’m now responsible for the deaths of billions. Billions. God…

And so I have removed myself from the physical world, and Nephil’s reach, to live out eternity in Tartarus, a place of endless torture where the burden I carry crushes my soul, driving me to madness. I am weak and cold. My abilities are gone. And I am not alone in this hell. There are things here more horrible than I could have imagined.

But as much as I think I deserve this fate, I’m driven to find a way to escape. To exist again. To return to my new family–Em and Luca. To set things right. I am Solomon Ull Vincent–The Last Hunter–and I will exist again.

  1. Forgot to post last week… Guys Last Hunter does it again! Hammered this book in less than a day, GREAT Read, I really enjoy this storyline! Rising is in my Top 3 favorite book and having Hunter give us a different point of view is nice! I would have to guess Jeremy wrote this story as a project to see how the Young readers would connect to his works. I dont think he would have dreamed this one to be as big of a hit as I think it has become. Thanks again for another great read big cat!

  3. Jeremy I can’t get enough of your work so keep it coming. Any chance the Last Hunter Series, Threshold and/or Sentinel will be out in audio format anytime soon? With my schedule I don’t get much time to read but have quickly went through your audio collection and look every week to see if more is available! I was excited to see Raising the Past pop up on Audible a few weeks back. It was a fun ride. Keep up the great work!

  4. Thanks Paul!

THRESHOLD and THE LAST HUNTER – DESCENT will both be available as audiobooks soon. THE LAST HUNTER – PURSUIT should be out in January. Then SECONDWORLD should be out in audio around the same time it comes out in hard cover. AND last, but not least, THE SENTINEL will also be coming out in the next year, though I’m not sure when. So, lots of audio coming your way.

  6. In fact, I DO read them. And reply to every single post. Thanks for the awesome compliments and the fact that I’m your favorite author in a country I’m yet to be published in is very cool.

As for the follow-up to Rook. You’ll be happy to know that the next full length novel, RAGNAROK, picks up right where Rook left off. So you’ll see a lot more of Rook, and small town in Norway, and the dark secrets they’re hiding. Hoping the book will be out late next summer.

Thanks for reading! And for writing.

  9. Hello Jeremy!
Do you have any type of time line as to when the last two books of this series will be available? I read all three plus “Antarktos Rising” in a three day bookfest! I am dying to read the final two.
I’ve also been picking up your other books. I’m looking forward to SecondWorld coming out.

    Comment by Wendy — January 11, 2012 @ 1:53 am

  10. Hi Wendy,

First off, I’m thrilled you read all the books so quickly! Being immersed in that world for three days straight, I can imagine you’re chomping at the bit to get the next books. :) The fourth book in the series should be out around June. And the last book in the series should be out in November 2012. Sounds like a long time, I know, but if big publishing had it’s way, we’d only be on book three in 2012 and wouldn’t see the last book until 2014! Thanks for reading!

  11. Jeremy,
I have read all your “Last Hunter” series and I will be starting in on some of your other books. Question I have for you, you left the end of Book 3 for a possible sequel….will you be writing a 4th one?

    Comment by Barry Gold — January 22, 2012 @ 7:55 pm

  12. Hi Barry,

YES! The Last Hunter series is a FIVE book series. The fourth book will be out (hopefully) in June 2012, and the fifth and final book will be out in November 2012. Thanks for reading!

  13. Just finished a marathon of reading the Antarktos Saga and wow, what an unexpected jewel this series is. Sol is such a great character. Can’t wait to read the rest! I picked them up via sale on Amazon and by farbthe best bang for my buck ever. In the meantime, I will purchase everything else you have written, count me as a fan. Thanks for writing!

    Comment by Kyle — May 10, 2012 @ 5:51 pm

  14. Awesome, Kyle. Glad to hear it. Solomon is actually based on my son (who is still just five–soon to be Luca’s age) so he’s actually my favorite character as well. Hope you enjoy the non-Antarktos Saga book, too. And FYI, my adult novel, Antarktos Rising parallels the story of Ascent. It follows Mira and the cataclysm created by Sol/Nephil. Thanks for reading!
