I'm often asked what books/authors I would recommend
from readers who have read all of my books and are looking for more good
reads. If you're one of those folks and are looking for a good read, I
have provided my top 40 picks for novels by some of my favorite
authors. Enjoy.
Seriously? You expect me to do more than sell 14 novels this year? I do this on my own, you know. Fine, if you want to be like that, here’s what else, aside from the aforementioned novels, you can look forward to from the Jeremyverse.
BENEATH in hardcover. I’ve received a surprising amount of e-mails from fans requesting BENEATH in hardcover format. I am currently getting quotes from printers and will hopefully be able to do a 500 – 1000 print run, which will be SIGNED and NUMBERED and sold directly to fans. But, whether or not this happens is 100% on demand. I will be starting a kickstarter.com campaign for preorders. Once preorders get high enough for me to break even, the books will get printed. If we can’t hit that dollar amount (I’m not sure what it will be yet) the books won’t get printed. But I hope it happens because these books will be purty and will include several pages of sketches (by me).
I get asked this question a lot. When’s the next book coming out? Are you writing sequels to any books? What are you working on now?
In an attempt to answer all these questions, I’m going to post a quick reply here, and then post new blog posts detailing each of the projects listed in this post.
What’s next for the Chess Team? The next Chess Team (now called Jack Sigler Thrillers–stores were wary of the nerdy sounding Chess Team) is titled THRESHOLD and will be out next Spring (March/April). I will release cover, summary, and final release date the moment I have them.
As fond as I am of the brain craving masses and their penchant for Armageddon, I can’t help wondering if they’re overstaying their welcome. Before you start reach for my neck, let me explain. I have been a fan of zombie movies, stories and games for as long as I can remember. A few years ago, I blogged the question, “Why do I love zombies so much?” I couldn’t get enough of them at the time and was given pop culture doses of zombie at regular intervals.
But now, too much of a good thing,” is the phrase that comes to mind. I find myself becoming decreasingly excited about zombie movies, novels and games. There is just so many of them and in a rush to feed public consumption, quality is taking a hit.
I know that much of today’s storytelling–particularly in movies–is just a rehash of something that’s come before, but zombie flicks are getting out of control. There seems to be only two elements that change in zombie movies. 1. The location—a mall, the British countryside, an island, etc. And 2. The cause of the outbreak—a disease, a government project gone wrong, or the funk of forty thousand years. And those elements are then inserted into two different plotlines: 1. The tower defense–survivors are holed up and making a last stand. And 2. The quest — survivors are trying to get someplace, very far away, and are picked off one by one as they travel.
I’m a child of the eighties. That’s not to say I was born in the eighties. I wasn’t. What I mean is that my formative child rearing years stretched between 1980, when I was six and 1989, when I was (I hate math) fifteen.
My gaming habit was formed by Pong (for you youngens, Pong wasn’t just a game, but an entire game system that played ONE game), Atari, Colecovision, Commodore 64, Apple IIC, Nintendo and Sega. My love of sci-fi was fostered by Creature Double Feature (only here in New England–Godzilla, Gamera, monster movies), Battlestar Galactic (with a fuzzy robot bear!), Dr. Who, Greatest American Hero and Star Trek (Khaaaaaan!). I ate Cocoa Pebbles and lived in a cartoon bliss ruled by Space Ghost, The Herculoids, G.I. Joe, Robotech, Transformers, Go-bots, Force Five (Gai King, Starvengers, etc), M.A.S.K., Gummy Bears and that pink chick that was truly outrageous. *Yes, I know its Jem. Don’t doubt my mastery of the 80s!
